It was a very exciting week for our main hospital Streatham Hill Veterinary Surgery, as we launched an amazing new 24 Hour Vetcare service. This new service will be staffed by our experienced, permanent Veterinary team and will provide around the clock care for your precious pets- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year! We’re thrilled to be able to give you peace of mind that we are always here for you and your pets. ๐
We’ve already seen some emergency cases come through our surgery doors this week. Thankfully, our wonderful Vets were able to ensure these adorable patients went home feeling much better.
Take a look below to find out more about these interesting, emergency cases…
When our new 24 Hour Vetcare service launched, our experienced, permanent Vet team were on hand, ready to jump into action to help your beloved pets.
We want to introduce you to one of the first ever 24 Hour Vetcare patients- the gorgeous Coco. ๐ฑ
Coco was admitted via 24 Hour Vetcare this week as she was vomiting and her owner was concerned.
We performed X-rays and blood tests to investigate and gave Coco some anti-sickness medication. It wasn’t long before she was feeling better and was able to go home with her owner.
You can see our wonderful Student Veterinary Nurse Sarah taking care of Coco in the photo. ๐
Meet 24 Hour Vetcare patient Neil. ๐ฑ
Neil was recently admitted via 24hr Vetcare as he wasn’t feeling himself. He seemed a bit unsteady and appeared lethargic. We thought he may have had a reaction to something, so we took bloods and performed chest X-rays to check him over. Thankfully all seemed to be okay.
We gave him some fluids to make him feel better and were thrilled to see that he was much brighter the next morning and was showing no signs of ataxia (being unsteady or wobbly on his feet).
We were able to send Neil home for some well deserved rest. ๐
This lovely girl is Pip! ๐ถ
Pip was rushed in to Streatham Hill Vets as an emergency after she was attacked by another dog! Sadly, the dog had bitten her ear which resulted in a large wound. ๐ข
Our amazing vet Felicity flushed the wound to clean it and stitched it up under general anaesthetic.
Pip was a very brave girl and was soon feeling much more like her usual self. ๐
She enjoyed some extra cuddles from our lovely Nurse Tara before going home. ๐
Meet little Miss Marple. ๐ถ ๐
Miss Marple managed to sneak some tasty chocolate cake recently! ๐ฎ โ ๏ธ Chocolate is toxic for dogs but luckily her quick thinking owner brought her in to see the team at Streatham Hill Vets.
Our experienced team safely induced emesis, ensuring that none of the cake was absorbed. ๐ซย Please keep an eye on your precious pets and make sure that human treats are kept well out of the way. ๐ถ ๐ฑ
Chocolate, as well as raisins, grapes, onions and garlic (plus many more) are extremely toxic to your pets. โ ๏ธย If you think your beloved pet may have gotten their paws on certain toxic foods, please call us ASAP to speak to a member of our friendly team on- 0208 674 3525. ๐ฑย Eating toxic foods can seriously harm your pet, so if you suspect they have eaten something they shouldn’t please do contact us as a matter of urgency.
This handsome guy is Piglet. ๐ฑ
His worried owners brought him to Streatham Hill Vets after he started vomiting and wasnโt feeling himself.
Piglet was admitted for investigation to try and find out what was causing him to be sick. An ultrasound revealed a foreign body in his duodenum, which is the first part of the small intestine, which had got stuck and was causing Piglet to be sick.
He was rushed into emergency surgery which revealed a small rubbery item which had gotten stuck in the duodenum. ๐ฎ
Piglet remained in hospital for supportive treatment and was soon feeling much better. He was then able to go home where he will continue to recover, but not before getting a few cuddles from his favourite student nurse Vicky. ๐ ๐ ๐
We look forward to seeing Piglet soon for his postoperative checks. ๐
