Welcome to the weekend! There are only 9 days left until the end of Summer, and with the weather being a bit warmer next week, we hope you’ll have a great time with your special companions! Last week was very busy for our amazing vets with many ops and those important vaccinations. From tricky procedures to puppy love, here are some wonderful and interesting cases across our group!
Lovely Lucifer is pictured here with our wonderful vet Greg while he was in recovery from his Femoral Head Ostectomy procedure.β€οΈ This means that the femoral head/neck (the ball part at the top of the femur or thigh bone) is removed to allow better movement within the hip joint (socket) helping mobility in that area and relieving pain and discomfort.
He recovered so well after his op that he went back with his Mum on the same day but will have to stay rested for some weeks before he is fully able to run around!!!!
We all canβt wait to see him again soon for his post-op checks πππ
Our fantastic experienced Veterinary Surgeon Greg is available for all your pets needs including our smaller exotic furry friends and not forgetting our feathered ones as well!!!πΊπ±ππΆπΉπ°ππ£π¦
This little lady visited Streatham Hill Vets to see our wonderful vet Kate for nasal endoscopy.π We used a rigid scope to look into the nostrils to find out what had been irritating her.π½ Many things can cause irritation in the nostrils, such as grass seeds, grass blades and sticks!π± Here are some signs to look out for:
If you think your little one may have something in their nose that shouldnβt be there or any other problems, call our lovely team for an appointment or head over to our website and book an appointment online!ππ»
π Bringing a new puppy into the family can be an exciting yet stressful time. With vaccines, microchips, diets and neutering it can all be a bit daunting! Here are some little tips on what you need to do!
πAt 8 weeks of age our little bundles of fluff require thier first vaccines and by law should also be microchipped.
πTo fully protect your puppy they will need 2 vaccines! One should be given at 8 weeks and another 2-4 weeks later. From then on they will only require 1 yearly booster.
πFor diets we recommend a good puppy diet! As a growing pup your furbaby will need alot of calories and nutrition that adult food will not be able to provide. If you are unsure of how much to feed, you can weigh your puppy and check the food packaging which should guide you on the amount to be given.
πNeutering is normally done around 6 months of age, for males we need to make sure both of their testicles have descended and for females we need to neuter them before thier first season or 3 months after the finish their season.
πIf you have recently added a furbaby to your family and want to book in for a vaccine, microchip or neutering give us a call on 02086743525 π
Here’s little Mia having cuddles with our VCA Chloe whilst she was getting ready to go home after having a dental procedure. We couldn’t resist taking a picture of her, especially because she was smiling for the occasion πΆ
