Our Clinical Stories

The first week of December was very busy but also rewarding for our vets after helping many lovely pets that were feeling poorly. From dental treatments to orthopaedic surgeries our experienced vets were always on hand to provide the best possible care to your special companions!

Lady’s Scary Episode

Beautiful Lady has had x-rays taken following a scary episode of collapse whilst out with her owner in the park.

The X-rays revealed that Lady suffers from mild hip dysplasia and back disease.

Lady will go onto pain relief to make her feel more comfortable and have regular check ups .❤️

Puppy Fractures

Meet Paris and Bambi, two very sweet 3 and 7 months old Pomeranian puppies.

They were both referred to our skilled orthopaedic surgeon Gabriella for repairing their distal forearm fractures.

Sadly Pomeranians, like others small/toy breeds, have a high prevalence of fractures of the distal radius and ulna (the lower part of the front leg between the elbow and wrist).

While in larger dog these types of fractures are the result of major trauma, such as road traffic accidents, in toy breeds they commonly occur from only minor trauma like jumping from there owners lap or relatively low highs.

Indeed poor Paris fractured both her forearms and Bambi one leg by just jumping from a very small high.

Operating on very small bones like these is always a significant challenge. With Paris weighting just over 1 kg and Bambi just over 2 kg their bones were just 2 and 3mm thick. Gabriella had to use special mini-plates to fix their miniature delicate bones. Both surgeries went extremely well and without complications and Paris and Bambi were discharged to go home to their loving owners.

Join us in wishing Paris and Bambi a speedy recovery.

Winnie’s Sore Leg

Look at this gorgeous girl! Winnie was sadly suffering with a very sore front leg.

Our mobile orthopaedic surgeon Andrei Uricaru came into see her. After careful examination, x-rays and an Arthroscopy a diagnosis was confirmed.

Winnie was suffering with Medial compartment disease of the elbow. It is a common, highly debilitating orthopaedic condition in need of treatment.

Sadly she also had some osteophyte bone spurs which would have also been causing a lot of discomfort.

A proximal ulna osteotomy was performed which will reduce the pain and will improve Winnie’s limb use and function. We really hope that Winnie is back in action! Get well soon Winnie xxxx
