April Highlights

April was another incredibly exciting and busy month for our surgeries and dedicated teams. 🐶 🐱

Our most exciting news was the launch of our 24 Hours Emergency Vet Surgery based at our main surgery – and winner of London’s Best Vet 2021 – Streatham Hill Veterinary Surgery.

Since 19th April, our professional, caring service has been available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our experienced permanent Vet team are here for you anytime, day or night, whenever your beloved pets need us. 💚

Meet 24 Hour Vetcare patient Neil 🐱

Neil was recently admitted to our 24hr Vetcare as he wasn’t feeling himself. He seemed a bit unsteady and appeared lethargic. We thought he may have had a reaction to something, so we took blood and performed chest X-rays to check him over. Thankfully all seemed to be okay. 💚

We gave him some fluids to make him feel better and we’re thrilled to see that he was much brighter the next morning and was showing no signs of ataxia (being unsteady or wobbly on his feet).

We were able to send Neil home, for some well-deserved rest. 💚

Our Wimbledon Surgery, Tucker has FNA Lump removed

This is Tucker, who belongs to our VCA Jordan and who comes into our Wimbledon practice every day to keep everybody company. 😁😁😁

Tucker had to have surgery this April, on one of his back legs after a lump was found. 😱

An FNA of the lump was sent to the lab who confirmed it was a fibrosarcoma. Fibrosarcoma is a type of soft tissue sarcoma and is a type of cancer. They are most commonly found on the limbs and the trunk of the body. 🩺

It was best to remove the lump to ensure no further spreading or problems. The lump was removed by our amazing Vet Francesca and we are happy to say he is now fully recovered. 💚🥰

Olaf the Maine Coon came in for a visit 🐱

We were lucky enough to have this adorable guest come to visit us at The Corner Vets. 🐱😍

Olaf is a beautiful Maine Coon, weighing at a massive 7kg, double the average UK cat size! 🐱❄️

Olaf came into The Corner Vets to be neutered. Everyone was thrilled to see Olaf and he received lots of cuddles from all especially our Student Nurse Mary, who fell in love straight away! 💚

Maise receives life-saving surgery

11-year-old Maisie benefitted from top-class service from Team Briar.

Maisie was very poorly after eating a cooked lamb bone.  It had become wedged in her small intestine and caused a blockage which is life-threatening 🚨🦴😟

Our amazing Vet Kate jumped into action and operated well into the night to remove the obstruction. Head Nurse Tracy and Student Nurse Amanda were on hand to run the complex anesthesia and keep Maisie safe and sound. 🏥🌃

Get well soon Maisie and no more bones for you!   🦴

Helping Skira to feel much better

Doesn’t little 10-month-old ‘Good boy’ Skira look sheepish for his visit to The Animal Clinic?!

That’s because he ate a stone on his walk which, thankfully his eagle-eyed humans noticed.

Our team has to act fast and induce Skira to vomit, to avoid the stone traveling further down the digestive tract as this could have caused a blockage which would have meant surgery. 💚😨

Thankfully, as you can see, we managed to ‘retrieve’ said stone with no invasive surgery.

There are lots of great benefits of our new 24 Hour Vetcare service, including being:

🐾  Based out of our multi-award-winning Streatham Hill Hospital

🐾  Continually staffed by our extremely experienced permanent Vet team

🐾  Happy to help all, whether you are a client or not

🐾  Open and operating 24-hour care, 7 days a week, 365 days a year

🐾  Easily accessible, with plenty of free parking

Please remember that we are always here for you and your cherished pets. With 24 Hour Vetcare, you can have peace of mind that we are here for you whenever you need us. We hope that you won’t need to visit for an emergency, but if you do, our wonderful Vets will be ready and waiting to help your pets.

If possible, please give us a call in advance on- 0208 674 3525 so that we can prepare for your arrival.

Don’t forget, you can still book regular appointments online.
