This little cutie Marvin unfortunately was diagnosed with parvo virus last week. 😢
It is a highly contagious disease that affects unvaccinated dogs, often puppies. It attacks the cells in their gastrointestinal tract so they are unable to absorb vital nutrients. This means they will become very weak and dehydrated.
This horrible infectious disease has a very high mortality rate, but after a very long week of intensive care from our fantastic team,
🌟💪this little superstar Marvin was able to go home to his lovely family.🌟 💪
Signs of parvo virus can include:
* foul-smelling bloody diarrhoea
* lethargy
* vomiting
* inappetance
It is so easy to protect your dog from parvo virus, just with a simple course of vaccinations💉, updated throughout their life. These vaccinations are included on our VIP plan! If you would like to discuss vaccinations 💉
Our team are more than happy to help!
This cute little monkey is Indie having a cuddle with our wonderful VCA.
Indie was in today to have surgery to correct his Cherry eye 🍒
Cherry eye is a condition in dogs that results in a prolapse of the nictitating membrane in the eye, left untreated this can effect tear production and the supply of nutrients to the eye, leading to a painful condition known as dry eye.
We are glad to say Indie’s surgery has gone well and will be able to go home this afternoon. We will of course keep an “eye out” 😆 for any issue and make sure this little monkey is A ok.
Lovely Ice came into our clinic for his regular ultrasound as he has Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. 🩺
Sometimes with this condition the heart is pumping too hard, so he’s on some medication that people use, called beta-blockers to try and slow it down.💊
As we can see, the medication is working because his heart is beating nice and slowly now and not being worked too hard anymore. Ice has been a most exemplary patient today❤️
Here is a short clip of some Ear Mites moving under the lense of a microscope 🔬 Did you know that Ear Mites can be a common parasite in both cats & dogs – they live on the skin of the ear canal and feed off ear wax & skin oils which is exactly what you can see them doing in this video. Symptoms of Eat Mites may include your pets trying to scratch at their ears with their paws or shaking their head excessively. The ear itself may look red and inflamed however these symptoms can be very similar to a range of other problems too. If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms then it’s always best to have them checked by a vet 👍🏻 Please feel free to post any questions 😊

Beautiful Sheera came into our practice as she was really feeling unwell and had a lot of symptoms leading towards a pyometra 😔 Fortunately, our wonderful Vet Mary Louise was able to diagnose the problem quickly and Sheera’s owner agreed that we perform the surgery to remove the infected uterus 😁
A pyometra is potentially a life threatening infection of the uterus involving a large build up of pus. This can occur spontaneously 😥 As it is hormonally controlled. The best way to prevent this is to have your Dogs and Cats spayed. However this is more common in dogs. Cats can suffer with pyometra too! 😮😫
This isn’t the only thing that benefits your dog and cats when spaying them. Listed below are a few other problems which can be prevented:
* Unwanted pregnancy
* Ovarian/Uterine cancer
* Not having to deal with heats
* No Pyo
The surgery was a huge success and Sheera is feeling amazing today, almost back to herself and making up for her loss of appetite! 🤗😍 We look forward to seeing her for her post operation check up! 😊😊
🐾Marvellous Monty visited us again today for his kennel cough vaccination! 🐾 💚Kennel cough is a highly contagious group of respiratory infections (bordetella bronchiseptica and Parainfluenza) and the best way to protect your dog is to vaccinate annually. 💚Kennel cough vaccine is not 100% effective but usually reduces the symptoms. If your dog is sociable, has a dog walker, goes to doggy daycare or uses boarding kennels it is advisable to have the vaccination.💚It is not just for those dogs that go into kennels. Monty was so brave and had clearly forgiven Dane as he even allowed him to clip his claws after the vaccination was given. We believe it is important to protect your dog against all preventable infections, which is why we include the kennel cough vaccination as part of our VIP Healthcare Plan. https://www.streathamhillvets.co.uk/vip-plan/
